I moved my LiFePO batteries into the passthrough, but also splurged on the Renogy self-heating batteries. The BMS internal to the Renogy batteries would not let them charge below 32 F anyway, regardless of what everything else is doing, and the self heating will keep them warm anyway. Besides that, I have a remote thermometer in the pass through for quite a while before doing this upgrade. It stays pretty warm in there as long as you don't look in there. Heat comes up from the underbelly through the two wire/hose cuts on the two sides.
