If I understand correctly you want to access the heating element. If so you open the outside panel as shown in Howard’s first picture.

Bill, unfortunately this is not a Suburban water heater. The Atwood/Dometic water heaters have most of their heating elements located in the rear of the unit, buried inside the camper, as indicated in this video at 2:20.
