Low hot water pressure

I have extremely low hot water pressure. No kinks in lines, I set Nautilus in hot water bypass, pressure increased. Is the pictured item my next suspected trouble item? Also, bonus if you have a Home Depot replacement part number.

The pictured item at the top of the water heater is the check valve. This could be the problem as some have found it faulty or full of debris. It is straight 1/2" pipe threads. I am not sure if this is something that is carried in the box stores. A local RV shop should have one. Many have replaced it with a brass check valve instead of the plastic, available at Amazon Amazon.com: Valterra P23415LFVP 1/2" Check Valve : Industrial & Scientific

The threads are standard tapered pipe thread.
