  • Portable Furrion Replacement?

Hello all. I am new to this forum and expect to visit often. I just purchased my first 5th Wheel (2017 GD Reflection 29RS). I'm curious about a solar option. I'm pre-wired for a "Furrion 95W portable solar power charging system (FSPP10SA-BL)" according to the owner's manual. Has that been replaced by the FSPP95SA-BL? I don't want to make any assumptions. Thanks.

    Tom,
From a quick search, the FSPP95SA-BL is also no longer available. Even if it was, Furrion's MSRP of $499 for a 95W panel is a bit outrageous IMHO.

The bummer about the Furrion external connection on your '17 GD is the 10A limitation, along with the proprietary connection. You can get an adapter cable like at Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/iGreely-Indus.../dp/B07RXHF3GF ) and then use any industry-standard portable setup--but it must not exceed the 10A maximum.

But before you spend any money, consider buying Will Prowse's book on Amazon. For $5 you'll get almost everything you need to know in one bound edition. https://www.mobile-solarpower.com/the-book.html

As howson mentioned, you can get an adapter cable that will connect between most commercial portable panels and the Furrion port. Based on past experience, keep the portable panel below 120 watts in order to prevent blowing the in-line fuse. There are a lot of good panels in that range that are much less expensive than the Furrion panel. Just make 100% certain that whichever panel you purchase that it has a built in solar charge controller.

      Here's a typical example:
