  • Gen Y/Turning Point

I’m sorry if this has been answered somewhere, but looking for a quick answer. Pulling the trigger on a 295rl, and being told by dealer that the Turning Point pinbox is welded to the frame, and cannot be replaced by a GenY, who makes one that fits? I believe on here some folks have gone to a Gen Y from a turning point? Thanks in advance for any info.

I think this is what you are looking for. Give them a call to verify. My brother in-law has a 150 series Reflection and is considering going this route.

The Turning Point pin box is not welded to the trailer frame, it is bolt on the same as all others. I am not sure what the bolt pattern is.

All pin boxes are bolted to the “wings” which are part of the frame. The turning point attachment is different than most pinboxes and thus “most” gooseneck hitches. Gooseneck hitches do create more twist in the trailer frame they are attached to. LCI is very particular about what pinboxes they consider to be OK with their frame. Understand the implications to your frame warranty if you make this change on a new trailer.

Thanks you! I have read up on the warranty issue. If it can go wrong it will with whatever pinbox is on there. I get Lippert's stance, but for my application, without going with a Reese, the Gen Y seems to be a reliable pinbox. According to data, Gen y has sold 4000+ hitches, with no failures or warranty issues. Of course that is "he said, she said". I appreciate the input.

I know this won’t necessarily help with the current warranty discussion however there is a new RV brand that uses Lippert frames with the newer Rhino box and it comes from the factory with a GenY hitch, either the kingpin or goose, whichever the customer prefers.

Food for thought, just putting it out there
