I seek advice on using an aluminum cargo carrier for a Generator. I have a 2022 Reflection 150 226RK. I like the thought of having the generator in that location as it is farther from the bed and easy to access. I would not be using this when I am in motion. it will also run off the RV Propane system when in use. I plan to have a Hitch Riser first to Elevate the rack a bit so I don't have to worry about ground clearance. I also plan to use anti-rattle on the receiver mounts. It will be mounted to the rack with a rubber mat on the bottom to help with vibration and down tight with bolts and lock nuts. unit weight of the generator is 79 pounds anyone on here have any thoughts or concerns I may not be thinking of? this should be well under 300 pounds. is there any real advantage to running it in the bed of the truck? it is a quieter open-frame generator by champion that will fit under my tonneau cover.

I used to run my old Honda generator in the back of my truck, and it would sometimes sputter and stall. After experimenting, I found that the exhaust gasses were recirculating to the intake and causing it to run poorly. I placed the generator on some wood blocks and that got it high enough to get fresh air to the intake and solved that problem.
I have two small Champion generators now, so I just place them on the ground when I need them. But I see nothing wrong with your plan. I currently run about 125 pounds of bikes and racks on my receiver hitch and it works great.
