  • Blue Ox U-Bolt Wear

I noticed the U-bolts on the Blue Ox 2000lb bars have definitive wear, so decided to get replacements. For those who may have the same Blue Ox, the kit is Blue Ox part # BX88391 and is available from multiple online retailers -- one example here: https://www.rvupgradestore.com/Repla...-p/30-2513.htm

FYI, the Blue Ox has towed the trailer a bit over 41,000 miles with these original u-bolts. (I've had the Blue Ox since day 1.)

Also for inquiring minds -- I'm not sure if the Strapteks have contributed to the wear. (For those wondering what a Straptek is, see https://gdrvowners.com/towing-and-hi...-hookup-method )

The wear is shown in the pic below. I may be a bit conservative replacing these u-bolts, but for $10 it's worth the peace of mind.

41,000 miles and at least 4 years, I think they deserve a break.

If it's like the chain itself, any wear more than 10% is remove from service.

Check the "hooks" or what ever the Straptek uses to attach to the u-bolt for similar wear. I agree with the above, 10% wear replace, even before for a important connection like this.
