  • Switching out Pin Box to Reese Goose Box Help

I am having a hard time finding the model number of my current Pin Box to know which Reese Goose Box is compatible. I have the Morryde Pin box Part # RPB72-FD but I can't find the model number of that. I see similar part numbers in the conversion charts but not this exact one. Why you ask? I now have a flatbed with built in gooseneck ball. Can anyone help?

Give GD customer service a call - have you vin handy, The should have the build information on your unit and might be able to help. You want to know what pin box was installed - should be Lippert.

On edit. Look on the pin mounting box (what the Morryde is attached to). There should be a Lippert tag. on the pin box. It could be hidden. If you call reese direct they also may have the answer.

Also on edit. What trailer do you have. Geese goose box only goes up to 20K. Your existing is rated 21K. There must be a reason for that. Maybe that is the reason there is no cross reference. However I did fins this https://www.morryde.com/wp-content/u...rt-2021_v4.pdf You might give MorRyde a call to see what pin boxes you current one fits.

Thanks Yoda, I'll look for the tag on the pin box. It's dark when I get home so maybe it's there and I just can't see it. This is a Mo 397THS. On that chart you posted there is something close but not the exact one. I'll try and call GD next week if I can. I'm not in a hurry to do this, just getting the research done. Plus there are some decent Christmas sales going on now.

Have you tried calling Reese? Maybe they have a cross reference for that model number.

Also double check and have the serial number of the pin box handy should you need to call MorRyde.

I had one of these on my camper and sold it when I got my new truck. It was pretty cool. My impression was, that there was Lippert and then there was everyone else. Check out the diagram with bolt hole measurements. You might be able to determine if it will fit based on this drawing. But like Yoda said If your campers GVWR is 21K this might be a problem.

Hello GEN-Y also makes goosebox. I am running one on my 380FL weight ratings go up to 24K. My Solitude had the same Morryde pin box. The Gen-Y replacement for my is GH-8056 AL. You pin box is considered a Lippert Rhinobox.

I looked at the Gen-Y for my 220RK as they make one that fits the turning point box. However after looking at measurements I decided to stay with a traditional box Things I discovered is the reach is slightly less than than stock king pin or the goose box if they made one to fit (about 3") and height adjustment is minimal (too close to be comfortable in buying) - adjustable only at the box connection for the GEN-Y the Reese allows for some head adjustment I believe.. The reviews have been good, but is this on the Lippert approved list. Now this was my specific situation as my pin box only has 2 set of holes and I was not certain even at the lowest setting I would have bed rail clearance and tailgate clearance when hooking up.

All I am really trying to say is measure carefully. Reese shows all of thier possible adjustments in thier installation instructions and has the unit measurements too.

              Example https://www.reeseprod.com/product/94...eck-rv-coupler Instructions https://www.reeseprod.com/product-as...all/N94920.pdf

Just trying to help make an informed decision. If Reese had a goose box for my turning point housing I would probably have gone that way.

If you have the OEM puck system, verify your ball height against something like the 1" rise one to see if it will provide any extra clearance.

                https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hit...e/RP19315.html

I avoided the goosebox and any other variants as you loose misalignment hitching along with you have to crawl under the neck to hook up the chains and latch the coupler (some couplers have extensions).
Also as mentioned Reese is the only one known to not void the frame warranty.
