  • Hand held LED search/work light and additional safety items.

Was not sure where to put this?

I have on my towing safety list a rechargeable hand held search light. Something in the 6000+ lumen's. Use would be roadside safety, and camp safety and for checking hitch jaw position at night. Several times I have wished I have had something high power to view a camp site before backing in. or safety check the trailer after stopping for dinner, etc. Water proof or water resistant might be good too.

Most I have looked on the internet have very mixed reviews. Having variable power might be good, use only enough light as needed. I have one of those head band LED lights, but find it lacking in some situations.

    What can folks recommend?

The other thing I am looking for is a good set of roadside safety triangles or other safety markers, roadside flairs, etc., for roadside emergency. I know there are some good sets out there. I believe I want something DOT compliant for good reflectivity. Can folks recommend anything.

    Thanks everyone
    Keith

I use a hand held spotlight daily (nightly) from October through April checking cattle. I have gone through a lot of rechargeable lights that let me down. Batteries and chargers failed way too often leaving me hunting for cows without enough light. Always the same story, with replacement batteries costing more than the light cost.

6 or 7 years ago I got two lights on clearance at Gander Mountain that used 4 D-cells. The batteries last so long you don’t even have to think about them. I may have only changed batteries once in that time. Possibly twice. Not worth messing with rechargeables at that rate.

If you have cordless tools, you might look at their offerings. I know Milwaukee makes one.

I would consider giving this a try otherwise https://www.harborfreight.com/20v-hy...8aArE5EALw_wcB

I carry a few traffic cones with the reflective tape. Their main purpose is giving me reference points and marking overhead obstructions when backing into a site, but I can pull them out and add some flares if needed in traffic.
