What rear wheels should I buy to replace the outer two on my 2017 Ford F-350 DRW?

I acknowledge my question is better suited for a Ford-based forum...got so much going on I'm hoping someone here will know the answer. Thanks in advance for allowing to attempt to use the "Easy Button" to get an answer.

I need replacements because the rear wheels on my dually have the dreaded corrosion issue I learned about by watching Changing Lanes' Full Time RV Truck Upgrades video. The right rear wheel's valve stem is not completely sealing so there's a slow air leak.

There's a comment under Chad's video that states, You could use ford valve stem f2gz-1700-c high pressure valve stem for use with dual rear wheel trucks, then you won't get the corrosion your setting now Can anyone verify that information?

Another comment under Chad's video: Vision 181 hauler duallie chrome wheel or Ion Alloy 167 dually polished They are a match with factory height of your truck pretty sure you would find these to match your actual tire

One more comment I'd like feedback on if anyone know what this "sealant" is: There is a 3M sealant that stops the slow leak. My 2018 suffered the same plight and since the 3M sealant was applied all the slow leaking has stopped. My dealer did the work and knew about the product.

I'll definitely want a wheel that won't have the same galvanic corrosion issue caused by the dissimilar metals of the OEM wheel and valve.

Didn’t see your post till tonight. I will check tomorrow on the valve stems. Just a quick look on Ford, looks like the current part # is updated to rubber. I want to see if your factory sensor will bolt to that valve or if it has to be updated also.
There will be a ton of wheel options if you need all 4 aluminum wheels. If you just need one or 2, Keystone is a good option for OEM wheels. I will check and see if they sell direct to the public.

howson , that's awful. Is it just cosmetic or is there a real problem. If it is a real problem and Ford won't stand behind it, maybe enough complaints to NHTSA would help them from their seated position. I had those same "appearing" wheels on an 07 F350 I bought new. Did not have the issue, but only kept the truck for about 40K. Maybe there is a Ford TSB which would address this. For something else to worry about, your inner wheels are steel, mated right up to your outer aluminum wheels. A tire shop specializing in truck wheels should be aware of this and have a remedy.

@M&K337 -- thank you for checking for me.

DarnDave -- there's a real problem. Air is definitely slowing leaking from the valve stem where it is supposed to seal around the wheel. Ford offered to cover a percentage of the replacement cost for the wheel, but the new wheel is the same as the old one. When I asked the service advisor why would I replace the current dissimilar-metal-problem for a new one with the same problem she didn't have an answer.

I'm amazed something as simple as a wheel and valve stem is such an issue. (Spent time on google last night and there is a tsunami of information out there. I just don't know who to trust on forums and sites I don't frequent, so at this point not sure what the real answer is to the leak problem.)

howson Not an expert on wheels, corrosion etc. however it would seem that if dis-similar metals are the problem, which seems obvious from the pics, it might be best to go with all steel wheels inside and out with the metal valve stems. Seems you are in a marine environment that is going to attack any metal with imperfections in the finish. Is it an absolute requirement for metal valve stems due to pressure, strain etc.? As @M&K337 mentions the new part listing is for rubber stems. In the past I had aluminum wheels and metal valve stems and there was a washer made from phenolic or something between the wheel and stem to prevent the corrosion. Good luck in your search.

Thanks Dave. Your questions are mine, and I agree with the "all steel" assessment. I suspect the more I dig into this topic the more I'll learn. The answer is out there (this is not a new issue)--I just gotta find it in the wilderness known as the "internet".

howson So it looks like the updated valve stem is part #F2GZ1700D, it is rubber. They do not ask a difference on the TPMS sensor for the style of valve stem. That leads me to believe your OEM sensor will bolt to the new valve. Ford seems to have the best price on the oem wheels @ $311.18 + a $50.00 core(Wholesale). You might be able to find a better price for wheels.

My Ram's outer rear wheels hold water where valve stems are.. I saw some corrosion starting around the stems a few years ago.
I added some zinc based thread antiseize/thread lubricant around the valve stems and park so the valve stems aren't at the bottom when the truck sits awhile.
So the corrosion hasn't gotten any worse since I did that in 2018, though I should refresh the application.
I guess Noalox might be similar to the left over Penetrox A I used.

I have an 04 King ranch dually with the stock (premium) aluminum wheels. No issues with corrosion so far. Last tire change they did have to fix a rim leak. Discount Tire apologized that the tech did not properly clean the rim before mounting the new tires.

I would actually check with a reputable salvage yard for a set of the stock Ford aluminum wheels off of a high end unit. Lariat or above. Also some tire centers get take offs when folks change rims. Check around. For my truck before this I got a salvage yard set for my winter tires and will probably do the same again.

Also these folk have some quality rims http://sendelwheel.com/ I used them for my replacement trailer rims.

                  Hope this helps.

BTW - check with your Ford dealers too - some folks replace the rims on a new truck to what they want. You never know.

                  Hope this helps
