Hello... I am in the process of buying the GD reflection 311 BHS but need to upgrade my current vehicle. I am looking at purchasing an F250 SRW Crew Cab 4x4 with the 7.3 motor. What is everyone towing their GD 311BHS's with?

Welcome to the forum! Many adventures are ahead for you and your family.
I'm going to make a lot of assumptions. But first, none of us are experts (well, not me). Keep this in mind
The 311BHS shows a hitch weight of 2316# on the website. These are typically low. Real hitch weight can be a few hundred pounds higher. But lets take 2316#.
The typical payload of a new (2020, 2021 year models) F250 SRW crew cab with 7.3 is 2600# to 2800#. An earlier model (2019 or older) you can subtract about 500# from that number.
Here's where assumptions come in....I'm assuming you have a wife and a couple kids (hence the bunk model). If that is the case, passengers will be around 500#. Random gear in cab will be 150#. The hitch setup will be about 100#.
If you add up all the payload you are at about 3100# (this is a light estimate - it will probably be higher). This is over the payload capacity of the F250.
Assuming you're looking at a 2021 model, the 5th wheel/gooseneck GVWR will be between 14,400 and 19,200 depending on rear end, towing packages and drivetrain. Looks like you would be good here.
GCVWR will be between 21,800 to 26,000 depending on rear end, towing packages and drivetrain. You may not be good here.
You also need to consider trailer frontal area limitations.
In my opinion you would be better off looking at the F350 with the 11,400 GVWR and 7.3 motor and 4.30 rear end. Payload would be 3800 to 4100# and GCVWR will be about 27500#.
I hope this is helpful.Allen

sbr824 I’m living this nightmare right now. I have a 2015 GMC 2500 HD SRW 4WD diesel - competitor to your proposed F250. I have a GD G30 Toy Hauler. I haul a Goldwing trike @ about 1200#, so I have that added weight component - but the math is the same consideration for all of us hauling a trailer. I’ve had a problem with sway since day 1. As I began to investigate, payload became an issue almost immediately that was pointed out from contributors on this site. I was very surprised to see my truck wasn’t “big enough”. Additionally, I would tell you to check the payload sticker inside the drivers door to get YOUR truck’s payload. It’s labeled as “weight of passengers and content should never exceed” XXXX, It can vary significantly from what the manufacturer posts. If I had it to do over (and I just might) I would have gone with the GMC 3500.
As the old saying goes, “Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it” I see a 3500 SRW in my near future, just need to figure out how to tell the wife I NEED a bigger truck. :-)

kdocker start the conversation with DW with "Honey, I know you love our 30G but it is just too much trailer for our little truck. We are going have to sell it and get -" At this point have three or four unacceptable to DW options available and then propose the alternative of a new, bigger truck.John

I tow my 2022 311BHS with a 2017 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab with the 6.6 Duramax and have no issues. We've only had the RV for 2 months, but I've trailered it nearly every weekend with trips ranging from 30 minutes to 2-3 hours. It's not going to accelerate like there's nothing behind it, but I have no problem going highway speeds (70 mph) up our little Wisconsin hills. I'm pretty sure the only difference in the 2500 and 3500 is the shocks and struts, but that's Chevy and I'm not sure that the Fords are the same. If you have the option to go to the 1 ton, I think you do it and don't look back.

Your Reflection is a 6th wheel. The challenge is for us bumper pull toy haulers. Balancing total weight with tongue weight and weight distribution. Making sure we get good drive and steer axle weights to avoid sway.

You might try the following from the Ford site. This is basically my F-250 upgraded to an F-350 with 4x4 and 11.4K GVWR.
Your actually pin weight will be about 2,800# ready for camping. You should be at about 22K GVCWR. The 7.3 and 10-speed can handle this, but I now am happier with premium gas. I do like the gas engine.
Best,
Charles
