PDI checklists for Grand Design trailers

    PDI checklists for Grand Design trailers

    We've purchased two Grand Design trailers from the same Canadian dealer. Both times when picking up the trailer we were presented with a voluminous list of items that the dealer claimed had been checked in a Pre-Delivery Inspection, and we were required to sign it.

    Does Grand Design provide that voluminous checklist to the dealers, or was the list we were given to sign dealer-created?

    If PDI checklist(s) are created by Grand Design can that / those list(s) be sent to owners? Or, better, can it / they be posted here for download?

    The list(s) would be useful for thorough self-inspections by owners.

    I'm pretty sure that your dealer created that list. I've never seen or been presented with one from our dealership.

      Sounds bogus to me. Did you see them actually check it all? I would NOT sign.

        Not sure why YOU would sign something that shows what the dealer checked?? If I were there to witness the dealer checking every one of the items then that makes more sense.

        Sounds like the dealer is playing CYA. Might be worth a call to GD Dealer relations to see if that is SOP. They might want to if a dealer is operating in this manner.

        I would be more interested in what your signature on these forms actually represent. What is your signature affirming or attesting to.

        Bottom line, I would night sign anything that says the dealer sis something unless I witnessed it or reinspected every one of those items with the dealer

          I asked for the pdi checklist when I bought my trailer. They handed me a 128 point checklist. The rv tech told me that dealers make up their own pdi lists. Some may do more, some may do less.

            I don't remember a checklist when we picked up our Xplor 221RB. The dealership did a good job of fixing all the items we had seen on our initial inspection before purchase. The process of the pdi was sufficient, checked the operation of everything and looked it over pretty well. They even required a braking test before we could leave, going 20mph and stopping in a short distance.
