My assumption is that many members of this forum are technically competent which means the data from the poll might be a little skewed to "NO" versus the general RV owners without technical skills.

      Jim,

Or some may not want to be bothered with repairs only to find out their rig will sit on a dealer lot for over a month for even minor issues. I remember meeting a fellow at the dealer who had an extended warranty who reiterated this statement. He put on quite a show in the waiting room in being back 5 times for the same small issue.

I'm more competent than most of the hacks at RV dealerships. At least in my opinion. And, I don't like dropping off my trailer and waiting.
Actually, I don't buy extended warrantee's on anything. They push them hard so I figure the odds are I will save money without it.

We did on our first new 5th wheel purchase as we were somewhat intimidated by the sales hack. Never again. 4 brand new trailers since that first one and no extended service or any add ons. On that first trailer I had a slide issue that the dealer supposedly repaired but it came up again and worse after the factory warranty ended and the extended warranty refused to cover it because the dealer had already "fixed" it once. BS!

That's the other thing. You really need to read the contract to know what coverage you are really getting.

Man that's frightening that any warranty would only cover a repair once on the same issue. A perfect repair or your kicked to the curb.

Well On my 3rd trailer with no extended warranty. 1st one only had a couple of minor things that needed to be fixed while under initial warranty. After that, the appliance warranty covered the AC that went out, and the Door that delaminated about 3 weeks before I traded it was as the trailer was turning 5, so warranty would not have touched it anyway. The only other thing I found was that the kitchen sink trap was not tight enough and leaked.

2nd Trailer (the 1st 5er) dealer was so incompetent that I refused to trust them to even put air in the tires. Service manager actually told the tech to screw the wiring support back to the bottom of the slide where it ripped off from after they repaired it for the axle that came apart. Her (yes it was a female, not that I hold it against her) tech had to argue with her to do it right because where she wanted it put actually was the part that went over the interior floor. Also she argued that she had training certs on he techs that were not displayed when I questioned that I did not see 1 single cert for ANY tech on any pull rite products (they had all the bolts overtightened in the head pivot) and did not grease any of the critical points such that I almost could not disconnect. I think I could write a book on this unit that would make a lemon law lawyer cry.

3rd Trailer (the 303) Dealer service is OK not GREAT, but the service writer SUCKS. Never called to tell me parts were on back order thus after 5 weeks, battery was a rock and she was supposed to have them charge it before I picked it up. And she was not there the day I picked it up, she left that to another service writer (when I dropped it off she was over 1 hr late for the appointment and did not tell me I could not wait on the unit).
