Published Length of GD Trailers

While I understand your concern about the length of the trailer, gone AWOL, I suggest that from. a safety aspect you also need to consider the total length of TV and trailer. Roads are built for design vehicles which on interstates in USA are large tractor-trailer rigs. State highways, county and local roads may be built for smaller vehicles. Determine the total length of the TV and trailer and make sure this at or under the total length for where you plan to travel. Then if you be on secondary roads start looking for load and size limits on those roads.

I used a cloth tape and a long level. Taped the end of the tape to rear wall, and measured up the center under the trailer. When I got to the front cap I used a 4' level to plumb straight down from the center of the cap. I forgot what I got, but it was within 6" of what GD posted if I remember correctly.

For as long as I can remember it has had a footnote on the specs page that the length is from hitch to rear.

I actually just found that sticker this weekend. It was on the lower part of the front door. I was a little surprised to see that it says our unit is 45’ 11.5”. Grand Design list it as 44’ 2”

i dropped a plum line from the furthest point on the nose. Made a mark on the ground, level ground with a level 5th wheel. Lot's of room between the line and pin box.
In BC Canada you are actually permitted to have items or body parts sticking past the length without it counting, provided it's for aerodynamics....makes me wonder if the super aerodynamic nose cone is part of this exception??
