Well Yoda, I visited the Service department at the Dealer and talked at length with the lead guy. Without hesitation he told me to go with B&W and a slider. So I chose the B&W Companion slider - he said I won’t regret it. Thanks again for your tutelage and I look forward to more fifth wheel and GD tips! Maybe we can meet up some time.

      All I can say is
Your quest now is all of the modification you can do to make DW happy. So if I may suggest solar ( sized for your unit ( I am guessing 600W min) with a Victorn Mutilplus II to cover your 50 Amp needs and a DC to DC charger system while traveling. For now make sure you get two batterys from the dealer and look hard at the Lithium upgrades - lot of advice and threads here. Be forwarnd the place can be expensive as I well know.....All good

      Safe travels my friend
Keith........ a stinky old round short bald dude............................well we wont say (I look like Yoda) wishes you the best on your new adventure.

      On edit
      BTW
Fill out your signature and be sure you put your Vin in the system - there is a welcome letter with all the information on how to do it. It would be grate to meet up.... as long as SWMBO does not ring my neck

Postscript on B&W Fifth Wheel hitches: The Companion slider model only works with the puck system. Since I do not have the puck system in my truck, I must opt for a rail install (which I wanted anyway - just thought I could get the Companion 20K hitch with rails - not the case). So I am getting the B&W Patriot slider model, which will be mounted on rails. I also opted for the slide out covers. I now pick up the new unit on Tuesday.

Rgg123 -- look forward to reading more of your posts. This will be an interesting transition. The 295RL has the living area of the 315RLTS and the bedroom of the 297RSTS (both travel trailers in the Reflection line). It really is the almost the best of both IMHO (not that my .02 is even worth .02!)

You're an experienced RV owner so forgive me stating the obvious, but be very thorough during your pre-delivery inspection. When I write "thorough", as an example I even made sure all the tire date codes were reasonably the same (including the spare) in case the delivery driver did something stupid (without the dealer's knowledge). My DW found multiple minor issues in the interior that she made the dealer fix on the spot--might have been tough after they got my check. (Campers Inn was great so maybe it would have been OK, but I took no chances.)

I hope you and your DW are happy with your new GD unit and that you'll be a regular contributor here.

Thx Howard. Our PDI today identified some issues - typical and not major - and the dealer is addressing them. The more I experience the GD product the more I am impressed. Airstreams are great but not perfect. They have issues just as any unit does. But I look forward to all the space and technology upgrades! I was the talk of the dealership - why would anyone trade in an AS? 🤣

Missed that I was not on the last page, but here are my comments on the turning point. I say lock it out and forget about it.

The slider hitches are heavier. The turning point requires maintenance and that alone is much scarier than the weight of a slider. Lets not forget to mention that the turning point has a "TOLERANCE" in the play allowed at the back side before replacing or retorquing the bearing bolt.

Yep, that’s what I determined after chatting with some folks. More moving parts = more trouble. Thx for the input!

Well, nearly 4 months in to the new GD unit and I will give the GD unit a grade of B. Problems include a leaking hose for the kitchen faucet (did not leak during our PDI - but noticed a crack in on of the connectors and it slowly leaks (General RV will replace it when I get it in for service), the control panel for one of the recliner chairs does not work (ditto), but the BIG one is the performance of the Furrion 12v refrigerator - very poor performance as the temperature range is as low as 28 degrees and as high as 59 degrees. The temp range is way too wide and food spoils above 40 degrees. Many others have noted the same poor performance and GD and Furrion are well aware of the issues - so we wait for a satisfactory response.

All in all, the new GD unit is what we expected. The added living and storage space are great, especially since we are stationary in a private RV park. I also appreciate the Nautilus control center - very nice compared to what I had on the AS. Also, the remote controls for the lighting and awnings (I just wish GD had included remote control of the A/C unit - big miss). One upgrade I gladly added was a Fantastic fan in the bathroom - the standard fan was loud and inefficient.

I will check back in a few years to see if my review changes!
