  • Organizationally Challenged

This seems like the right place for this topic.
New 22 MLE, Upgraded from an Apex Nano.
Nano was extremely limited in drawer space so most everything just lived under the dinette benches.
With all these drawers and cabinets I am sort of in shock mode as where to start my layout. I tend to be a tuck and stuff sort of person, whichever drawer is closest is where it goes.
I would like to get some ideas from anyone regarding where they have placed items for organization.
Silverware, plates, foils and wraps, extra bedding, etc etc.
Open to any and all suggestions, up to and including any mods you may have had to make to get the space you needed.
Need some decent trays to fit these drawers as well if you recall what/where yours are from.
Some good tried and true ideas will be a lot easier than wandering Amazon or department store with a tape measure

    TIA
Please pardon my typos, I can spell I just can't type

Organization is all a matter of personal preference; as you said you kinda just have to start tucking things in places and see what makes the most sense functionally as you use it.

Measure your drawers/cabinets and keep good notes so anytime you're in a Walmart/Target/Meijer/etc you can see if there is something that might solve a storage problem you have while literally fitting in the spot you need it.

Also, random tangent but terrific username! I haven't been drinking much lately but I love scotch. Glen Dronoch 15 neat with a small splash of water is my favorite.

When I bought my house, someone told me that I should expect to reorganize the kitchen one week after picking where things go, then again in two months, then again in a year. I found this to be true, and found it to be true in the camper as well

I use these baskets liberally in our rig: https://www.target.com/p/13-decorati...28#lnk=sametab. They come in different sizes and colors. I find them useful for cabinets where the shelf is up high or down low, in order to bring everything in the cabinet to my level, or to collect random smaller things in a cabinet to keep them from rolling around. They are soft so they compress or push out or fill up as you need.

I bought random silverware trays at Walmart, nothing special required. I also got simple folding shelves at Menards to give me an extra shelf in the plate cabinet.

To be honest, if you're like me, you're likely to tinker with baskets and drawers and organization until the end of time. If you're like my husband, you'll just throw things in and get on with your day. Both are valid.

I just sold my Jayco 20BH and have a GD 247BH arriving in a few days. The jayco did have a bit of storage but the GD certainly have tons more. Looking forward to loading it up for the first time

(Once an engineer, always an engineer)...

There is a technical aspect when it comes to storage in your RV. Weight management is a significant aspect of safe and enjoyable RV travel. When storing items, you want to balance the side to side, and front to back loading as much as possible. For example, heavy items can affect tongue weight and tire loading. A trip to the scales before and after loading can help you determine where items should be stored. After all, don't want Pepe' to be out of balance.

First you sig works. For some reason it will not display on reply and then shows up when you refresh.

Now for where to put stuff. In the kitchen pretend your cooking - and place what you use most close in, and other stuff further out. As yours is a partial rear kitchen be aware things bounce more in the rear cabinets more than on the side. Heavy stuff should go on floor. I would put spices and cooking utensil by stove. For clothing again what you use most close at hand and once in a while stuff further away.

Now for help in storage ideas first look at the modification list that Howard howson keeps up. https://gdrvowners.com/modifications...ification-list and then use the search engine. Lots of folks have done some very cool storage upgrades

              Good luck and safe travels.

BTW and I need to do this. Keep a list of where you put stuff - especially the once in a while stuff. That way you can find it when needed.

                Thanks all,

Those 2 giant upper cabinets on the mirror wall of the dinette are stumping me, they are enormous, and I can't imagine being able to really utilize the space without a slide out mod of some kind to reach things in the back. Almost 3ft deep and 17-18 inches high. I was thinking maybe bulky spare bedding/blankets tucked in there.
Optionally I suppose I could make a slide and have a couple giant pull out liquor racks.. need a place for my bar after all LOL
