  • Foot pad replacement

What are y’all using to keep the hydraulic shaft from turning while putting the bolt that holds the foot pad on back in the bottom of the hydraulic shaft?
Which strength number loctite are y’all using to secure the threads. The high strength 271 states a torch is needed to heat the bolts so you can remove them in the future but Lippert say to use high strength.
    suggestions please?
    Thanks in advance!

Do they have a torque setting for the bolt?

If not, then the thread locker is used in lieu of torque. In that case U would use a plastic / rubber strap wrench like https://www.amazon.com/Oil-Filter-Wr...zcF9hdGY&psc=1 an an impact gun. Zip the bolt in and using a double wrap if possible of the strap, give it as many ugga douggas as you can stand with jarring of the impact.

      Thanks!
132 ft lbs but it’s hard to stop the shaft from spinning at that torque .
high strength thread locker that Lippert recommends requires heating to 500 degrees to release when future maintenance is needed. That might melt the seals in the hydraulics above the foot pad.

You will not melt the seal by just heating the nut and threads. The seal should be good to 220F, at least. I would think a lesser threadlocker like 242 would be good enough for the job.

I would use the lesser loctite, just check the bolt for tightness once and a while, you do not want your foot flailing down the highway past you.
