  • Torquing Electrical Connections

Terrific article by Mike Sokol with a lot of useful information including a (reasonably priced) torque screwdriver and handy torque value charts. Check it out here: https://rvelectricity.substack.com/p...ue-be-with-you

Scott'n'Wendy Yoda I agree Keith needs one.

I have one for mounting all of my objectives to various things. It's very easy to over or under tighten the screws on things resulting in various other issues.

Yes, that's what I bought the Vortex torque wrench for originally, but it really is an eye opener to realize how tight, or not so tight some specs are. I'm willing to bet most people over tighten electrical screws. I know I was over tightening optic rings.

Scott'n'Wendy Scott, you must have been holding the pinky wrong. I was pretty decent staring about 12 ft*lb to about 80 ft*lb or so. Above that I was a little uncertain.

Now that optic rings are a thing, It's a real eye opener how much torque you can put on a screw with little effort. Using the little L shaped wrenches I always did them with just my pinky to avoid getting too tight (hence the earlier comment).
