  • GFCI Outlets

Our GFCI outlets have stoped working, Except the one you reset, that is working. There is no power to the rest of them. We are stumped. We have checked the breaker, and that seems fine. Please help

If that GFCI breaker is the only one on the circuit and it is first in line, there must be a connection issue on the back of the GFCI outlet.

What year and model of GDRV?
Forum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself. Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, we have nothing to gain should you choose to purchase a product or engage a service we discuss on this forum.

Outlets “downstream” of a GFCI and protected by the GFCI are connected one to the next. Thus, if none of the downstream outlets are working, the disconnect is at the GFCI outlet, or the next one in the string. Do you have a voltmeter and know how to use it safely to check for voltage at outlets? If not, please consult an electrician or someone comfortable with doing this testing.

At a rally in California last year, we had an owner with a similar problem. Very few of his outlets would work. He had an inverter installed in his Imagine. The GFCI on the inverter had tripped. I reset it for him and all was well. If you have an inverter, it's likely mounted on the ceiling of the basement storage. If so, check the GFCI on the inverter itself.

Thank you all for your input. I will try these and let you know. We have checked the outlets with a meter, and the only one that has power, is the one with the reset button.

GFCI outlets are current flow sensitive. It will probably explain this better on the box the new receptacle comes in, but the point is to make sure you now which wires are coming from the breaker panel and which wires are going to other outlets.

The GFCI outlet will be in a normal residential box. You should be able to pull this outlet from the box and check the input and downstream terminals for voltage, using your meter. If there is voltage at the out going terminals, the problem is likely at the connection to the next outlet box, which will typically be an RV style outlet with the wires pressed into the knife blade connections.
