  • Slide out bracket

this weekend when we got to the campground, I noticed that when the passenger side slide went out, it was going up and down. when i checked the slide rails. i saw that one welds on the brackets had broken. What cause this? bad weld?

It sure looks like a defective weld to me. Another area of concern is the corrosion on the gear track and gear assembly. This may cause excess friction which could have put pressure on the weld.

It should be a pretty easy fix. Use a jack to relieve pressure on the gear track and then clean and weld the plate back in place. Once done, I'd hit the track and gears with some CRC spray lubricant to try and minimize the rust.

Looks like the welder totally missed it. The drive shaft is bent as a result, too.

Poor weld for sure. I would check all other welds on your RV, if you are having weld done might as well get the others fixed if there are any.
