I have circled one of the 3 tabs that make the "clack clack" noise. They fit in grooves in the mating piece and acts as the clutch, spring washers I believe. When the slide can not longer move these 3 fingers jump out of their notches and create the noise. This is all in the motor gear box not in the actual slide mechanism.

    • Thanks for that Brian. When people were saying the actuator was pushing $400 I figured it was somehow in that tube. Pretty pricey for just a threaded rod and a tube.....

      • I believe the clutch is a serviceable component if you call LCI.

No such luck as to get the part paid for. It required an "authorized" tech to diagnose and install the part. C'est la vie....

As for the clutch, it is located on the end of the actuator where it mounts to the motor (if memory serves, which is getting less and less likely)

Oops, I see that is already addressed above by Brian...

Even though your diagnosis proved correct.....Guess I'm not really surprised.

Are there any mobile techs in your area? When I had my issue with the Newmar a mobile tech diagnosed it and repaired it at Newmar's cost.

the installation of the actuator is not that difficult. I was able to do the work by myself. Good luck...

I need to find a good local mobile tech. That is a good idea.

                  Thanks,
