Ok the stands arrived

Strands are well made - good welds. However I had an issue getting the second locking pin to work in all positions. First I had to switch the center section from one stand to the other and then fiddle in getting the pin in. I found excess paint was part of the trouble, and if I did not have the engagement paw fully seated the pin would not go in - probably a good safety factor. I have marked which center section goes with which stand. Also the top section between the ribs is 2.5" so folks know. For the price ($35) I think they are a good buy - you get two stands in the set for that price, but be careful as they also come single,

Yoda Keith, if you bend center of the "U" as seen just above the chrome tag inward, It's designed to keep the extension from being removed.

Yep - but then they don't fit in the box for storage. And thanks for that tip - I wondered what it was for. DOH - its noted in the instructions.
