I am very close to my payload weight and have thought about changing out the B&W for an Andersen. This would save me close to 150 pounds. I am skeptical about the Andersen, as most I see in use are pulling 8' wide trailers with short boxes, the extra 6" is lot when backing in a tight spot. And the real kicker is once it is installed you live with the turning radius, no sliding it back. We pull about 7,000 miles per year and spend 5 months in the trailer, so it will see use.
My question is to those who have or have had a wide body FW pulled by a short box and using an Andersen hitch, any problems backing or turning and which way was the red receiver pointed ( front or back)? Would you recommend the hitch? Before it is mentioned, I am not going to get a dually. I am not concerned about the aluminum having enough strength.
Thanks
Carl
