  • Curt Receiver Hitch 2400BH

Hey folks…looking to add a Curt receiver hitch to my 2400BH. Going to use it for a bike rack. This one mounts to the frame:

Interesting option--please document the install and post the results as I'm sure others will be interested. I can't remember anyone adding a bolt-on hitch. Only forum member that comes to mind is Paul & Deb -- he welded one on. See https://gdrvowners.com/towing-and-hi...-our-new-22mle

I've met other owners who have successfully added these in the past with good results. Make sure you add rechecks on the fastener torque to your periodic maintenance schedule.

I was under the impression adding something like this would void the warranty. Or is it something that would clamp down on the rear, hollow bumper?

The warranty would only be voided if the frame manufacturer could prove that the added component caused the failure. In any case, Lippert only warrants the frame/chassis for one year from retail purchase. After that, any defects are the responsibility of the owner to correct.

The Curt hitch is one that is actually screwed into the trailer frame. The rear bumper is just not strong enough to support a lot of weight. The downward load weight of this receiver is 350 lbs which is plenty for 4 mt bikes.
