    Pin setting

    Is the pin setting on the 5th wheel adjustable for height on a Grand Design? Our Dodge 3500 is very high.

    Are you talking one that has been lifted, or one of the newer ones being stock and high? I had a '19 RAM 3500 4x4 (stock), and towed my 5th with no problems. Both the pin box, and hitch are adjustable for height, and should work, but all bets are off if you have lifted your truck.

      Either adjusting the pin box or the hitch in the truck you will want to maintain around 7 inches of bed rail clearance and not have too much nose high on the camper.

        Most newer trucks ride higher empty than older trucks, but have very soft spring rates at the upper end for empty ride comfort. It is not unusual for the tailgate height to drop 3" with the weight of a 5th wheel trailer. This 3" drop plus 7" clearance between truck box rails and underside of trailer, often comes out just about right.

          Yes, I had to raise the kingpin up one set of bolt holes to be closer to level. I have a Dodge 3500 as well.

            Which model are you looking at? If it is a 100 or 150 series Reflection 5th wheel they have a rotating pin box. It only has 1 additional; row of bolt holes to move the pin box down if I remember correctly. Other models usually have several rows of bolt holes to move it up or down.. Also what year Dodge do you have and do you already have a hitch? This information will help us help you.
