  • GCWR for 2022 Ram 2500 Hemi

HELP a guy out!! What is the GCWR for my 2022 2500 Limited 4x4 Short bed Crew cab w/Hemi? No Ram link online, that I can find. Nothing in the owners manual & neither the Ram customer service or dealer could provide me a Ram GCWR based on my VIN. Both tried to tell me how to calculate it or call RV manufacturing company. I have the curb weight , and weighed loaded truck and then truck & 5th wheel at Cat scales, gross weight was 20,520. Reflection 303RLS.

    Truck GVWR is 10,000

    RV GVWR is 11,995

    Thanks in advance!!

Is there a sticker on the door jam that has this information?

No. There are a few vehicle weights listed but not the GCWR.

Thanks Jay. Is this spreadsheet for 2022 Limited? Where did you find this? I have found a number of spreadsheets but none specifically for 2022 Limited crew cab Hemi 3.73 axle.

Ok, seems like 22,000 is the consistent response on most sites. None specifically state a number for a 2022 2500 Limited with Hemi, but I am going with this number.

You can Google the commercial vehicle GCWR chart, here is it:

              https://www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuilde...tGjGgHzAHGUTU0 WB3rWuqSY7YmQ2vEhuBWBNtoQ3DkYxIU%0A

              —-

Ram for some reason has buried their chart we used to use for non commercial vehicles (or it’s in the brochure), they only give the commercial vehicle chart now. Odd.

However on the main page you can find the info:

              https://www.ramtrucks.com/ram-2500/specs.limited.html

For a Limited 6’4” crew cab it shows:

              Weights Specification Dimension
Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) (lbs.) 10,000
Payload (lbs.) 2,110 (again this is just an estimate, look at your door sticker for the true payload with all the gadgets in your truck)
              Towing capacity (lbs.) 16,360( Disclosure1)
Gross combined weight rating (GCWR) (lbs.)
              Towing capacity (lbs.) 16,360
Gross combined weight rating (GCWR) (lbs.) 27,980 (as a comparison my 3500 SRW is 32,580)

Again this is still not correct as it does not take the engine or axle ratio into consideration, so I looked up the Ram 2024 Heavy duty brochure and it had a chart in the back:

              6.4 Hemi V8/8HP75n8-Speed
              Axle Ratio 3.73 = 22,000 GCWR
              Axle Ratio 4.10 = 18,000 GCWR
              Axle Ratio 4.10 = 24,200 GCWR

What a mess.. they have a bunch of footnotes on this as if you look there is two 4.10 numbers.. This is not going to be so easy to find lol.

              —-

Now just remember those are estimates for everything except the GCWR. The rest you need to calculate from your payload sticker.

              1. First get the real GVWR from your door sticker.

              2. Then get the real GVWR from your trailer sticker on the side.

              3. Add those two GVWR together to get the max GCWR you “could hit if you loaded your vehicles to the max sticker ratings”.

However, only a CAT scale will tell you the truth because you may have overloaded your truck with cargo and people (on a 2500, almost always the case) and possible overloaded your trailer with cargo.

Please take a picture of your door jam sticker. or stickers and post. This will help us help you verify what your being told . My gut says 20,000 is a bit high for a 3/4 ton.

Door jam placards typically will list Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), but not Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating (GCVWR). That is typically listed in the towing section of the owner's manual.

HD Chiefs Thorvald has it right

                      6.4/3.73 Ram 2500’s are 22k
                      6.4/4.10 is 24.2k
6.4/4.10 @18k is the Power Wagon

keen eye will notice the chart is for 2024 but it’s the same for 2022. My 2021 was rated 22k, can’t find were I saved the dadgum chart
