Also 10.3% is a light tongue weight. Around 12%-13% would tow better but you stand the risk of going beyond your trucks CCC. Also do you know what your trucks hitch capacity rating is (you want to stay within that limit also)
One final thought - checking weights without being loaded for camping doesn't serve any purpose.
Thank you Ckreef. My hitch is the Equal-i-zer 1000/10,000lb. I believe you are right regarding the installation of the hitch when empty vs loaded. The thought behind weighing empty was for a baseline so when I went back loaded I would have a better idea of how much cargo and such was added to the truck and trailer. Maybe I'm overthinking it.Kevin

Looking at your numbers
CCC 1335 - 600 (your stated cargo) = 735 #'s left for tongue weight. That might be doable but will take careful arranging of weight in the camper. I did put my heavy tool bag under the bathroom sink to help counter balance some weight to the back.
My 2600rb loaded came out at 6860 with a tongue weight of 840 (12.2%).Charles and Susan

Get that adjusted properly and you'll notice a big difference in sway and weight distribution. Just follow the equalizer manual and it's a fairly easy adjustment. Biggest obstacle is needing a 250 ft# torque wrench (about $100 at Harbor Freight) and the right size sockets.
I would start with 5 washers and see what happens.

Once the hitch is properly adjusted you can take the truck and hitch to a truck shop who will have the torque wrench capable of these torque values. I watched my dealer install my hitch who used a 3/4" impact gun so I had to re-torque it afterwards. So a camper dealership may be hit or miss on them having the tools.
