  • 7 pin upgrade to help with troubleshooting

I recently had a bear of time troubleshooting why my left turn signal on the trailer wouldn't work. Every test on the trailer side indicated it should work. Every test on the TV showed that voltage was making it to the connector on truck. Eventually drew the conclusion that one of the truck pins was bent in just such a way that the contact with the trailer was missing. One of the annoying parts of my troubleshooting this was that the trailer connector tester I have worked every single time I tried it. I ultimately replaced the trailer connector with this one https://www.hopkinstowingsolutions.c...ade/48503.html. I kind of wish I had picked up the full cable replacement version (https://www.hopkinstowingsolutions.c...ade/20086.html) as I had learned during trouble shooting that the Conntek OEM plug had been assembled backwards, All the colors were wrong. Eventually I will probably go back and completely redo both ends so that it is correct, for now it is assembled to just work.

jwhigham If you are looking at replacing it I strongly recommend one of these:

I have replaced mine and recommended it to several people over the years. It gets rid of the metal junction box you have now and greatly simplifies troubleshooting down the road.

Yeah it's great, I had disc brakes installed last week at the rally, and they notified me my breakaway wasn't working, turned out to be the switch itself not physically closing when the pin was removed, but made it super easy to troubleshoot electrically. Plus I have a lot more confidence in the electrical side of all of it.
