COReflection i know on the Dodge any play starting with the ball joints, including panhard bar, and any steering linkage component wear, along with improper balanced tires will induce death wobble (nephew has an 06 and this is what he found). On the ford's majority of the death wobble has been attributed to weakness in the panhard bar ends. There are several fixes out there for it.

GM is so confident in their setup that they removed the steering stabilizer bracket points. At first when they dropped the stabilizer, all of the mounts were present so people added them. Now, one has to get the bolt on kit so they can add the stabilizer.

Yeah---I know several of my friends with Dodge and Fords and they have that problem. Many have tried to address it. My latest friend only had like a few thousand miles on his new truck and they could not get rid of it. Funny story when he went into the dealer....he was complaining about the death wobble out at the service counter. The service manager immediately ran out and said--sir come into my office. We don't want other customers hearing you call your issue the death wobble. My friend Roger says---wel you can call it what you will! Look it up...that's how others refer to it!

On the GMs....haven't heard of people adding the stabilizer back in but it sounds reasonable though. I also haven't noticed if my new truck has it but it steers like a dream---super smooth going down the road at 80+ MPH.....

Reminds me when I worked for Chrysler years ago in Auburn Hills. I had a straight axle half ton that pulled to the left. When I mentioned this to the dealer they said some pull to the left and some to the right. My next question was can we make this one drive straight? It was a decent truck, that never broke and had excellent body fit and finish and interior but man could it burn gas. 12.7 MPG Empty.

I know this thread is ancient....but I finally broke down (well the DW pushed a little) and bought a new to us 2017 F350 Platinum with 50k miles on it. The previous owner had a Diamond Back SD bed cover, airbags on the rear, leveling kit on the front and a full set of extra wheels/snow tires. Just had our first tow with it and while I could forget the rig was behind me with the F150, it was like nothing was back there with this truck.

Had to get a receiver adapter due to the 3" Class V hitch receiver. So far so good!

I did really like the GMC's but one thing that did influence me (although unverified) was that supposedly the GMC frame fits inside the Ford Frames. Still as this thread highlighted - hard to go wrong in the current market...lot of good trucks out there.

bellis Based on what information I can see on the 2017's the frames are pretty comparable width wise. Height of the GM frame appears to be approx 156mm and Ford 145mm.

Ford 1/2 frame width is 470mm:

GM 1/2 frame is 454 mm to the inside of the frame from center line and roughly 538mm to the outside:

Thank you Jlawles2 - my info may have been related to the brand new trucks....because I cannot remember the source of that tidbit. Do you know if this is true on the newer ones? Great info...thanks for sharing.

I would have to dig a bit, but I am pretty certain the newer trucks area bout the same. Frames are determined by the width of the axles. Note C&C are different width than trucks sold with beds.
