  • 2600RB price decrease

(FYI, I posted this on another forum also)

I just noticed that the MSRP of the 2600RB on Grand Design's website has dropped considerably, about $4000. I guess the greed that the RV manufacturers have put us through since the pandemic could finally be subsiding. One other thing I noticed was that it now comes with 50 amp service, and a second A/C is optional. I'm not sure if that would be a good thing for me as I had my fill of lugging around 50 amp power cords in the past and really would not want to do it again.

AZMike I had heard they were moving more of the line to 50A and AC Prep. An option for avoiding the beast is I took a 30A cord and put the 50A trailer end on it for times I am using 30A service or my generator. Allows for a much lighter and more manageable cord. I just jumped between the L1 and L2 connection in the trailer plug with a piece of 10gauge. All protected by the 30A pedestal so good there.

Apparently raw material prices have stabilized.

Regarding the pricing. I don't believe it was so much the rv manufacturers greed per se. With the supply chain problems during Covid, there were huge shortages of components. So there was a huge demand and very limited supply for parts to build these things. Since the Supply/demand curve was challenging, prices skyrocketed.

It's just my opinion but seeing the issues first hand I believe the price dropping is the ripples of the supply chain pool fading out more. Things were bad for a while, manufacturers (all of them not just RV mfgs) had to pay significantly more for raw materials for a while if they could even get them. That seems to be stabilizing now some. Parts are showing up quicker as well lately.

It also may be a reaction to the news that sales of RVs in the first quarter of 2023 is about 53 percent of the first quarter of 2022.

I’m liking my 30A cord as well. 50A is just too much to wrangle, especially in cooler weather.

My thoughts for what’s it worth…..we toured the Solitude factory in Oct and the tour guide was very transparent about the expected downturn in sales the next few years. Even if there isn’t a decrease in MSRP I’d expect dealers to be more negotiable on price. My perception of GDRV is they care about providing value to the customer on both quality and price which is why we bought our Solitude.
Last thought…similar to other folks I use a 30 amp cord with a cheater cord for the RV 50 amp connection. If we have shore power most times it’s 30 amps anyway.
