  • Tankless Hot Water Heater Conversion

We have a 2022 Imagine 2910BH and are looking to convert to a tankless option. Does anyone know which of the Furrion models fits into the existing space where the original OEM tank version sits?

I believe that they are sized the same but you will need to look at the dimensions of both to be sure.

Furrion offers three different sizes for retrofit purposes. Small door for Suburban 6 gallon replacements. Medium door for 6 gallon Atwood replacements, and Large door for 10 gallon Suburban/Atwood retrofits. Scroll down this page and you'll see information about retrofit sizes.

Just a side note, our Furrion tankless works great but is very susceptible to freezing temperatures. We never plan to camp when it’s that cold but being snow birds it happens.

I think your question has been answered by the experts, but curiosity has me wondering why the desire to switch?

If I ever get a new trailer I will change out the tankless to the standard tank model, so I don't need to worry about the unit freezing and can cold weather camp.. Just wondering? Lost of posts on tankless freezing up and folks going back. Besides I believe tankless are all propane and you can't use electric . Could be wrong on that.

I'm also not sure why you would want to convert. Most of the complaints I've seen on the tankless heaters in the new models is that they waste a lot more water during the warmup time. My only experience with tankless water heaters is in my off grid cabin, where we have one installed. It's the best (only real option) for that place but it isn't ideal, and I'd probably go to a tank if I could easily convert.

I would also be curious as to why you would want to make this switch. A tank water heater running on both propane and electric at the same time can supply a water saver shower head indefinitely. Be sure that you understand the cold weather limitations of the Furrion on-demand water heater (discussed in detail on this forum).

To this point I installed a Truma tankless several years ago and have been extremely happy with it. In my opinion they do several things right that Furrion missed the boat on. They have a small 1L tank they keep warm to remove the delay and wasted water, and have an electric "antifreeze" system to keep the system from freezing while driving in freezing temps.

I've heard Neil tell this story a few times. Truma (at the time) would only do installs at their factory or authorized service center. I believe Neil had it done at their shop in Elkhart, Indiana.

That's right Howard,so from that standpoint it was pretty easy lol. I think they might allow self install now,if so I watched them do it and it was very easy. You need to pull a data cable from the heater to where you want the control. I already had a pull wire in place to get to my control panel, that's probably the hardest part.
