  • Black Tank Gate valve

I have a 315 RLTS and am having an issue with the gate valve for the black tank. It doesn't close completely and is seeping out through the valve. I have tried rinsing well both from the inside flusher and an external flusher using a hose. I don't know if there is debris keeping the valve from closing completely, or if there is some adjustment. How far in is the valve and can you get a brush in there to try to clean the gate in the open position? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On my 315RLTS it was rusted cables between the handle and valve. Lots of info in the linked threads...some applicable some gee whiz info that may or may not help.

I had this problem on my rig about a year after I bought it. The valve is mounted to the tank and has a cable going to the handle. I had to replace my valve, which was not as gross as I thought it would be. You’ll have to drop the corplast to access the valve. When I got it down I discovered a dried wad of paper keeping it from closing all the way, but since I had the new valve I went ahead and replaced it in case the seals were trashed. It’s been probably three years and has been fine since. The easier solution is a twist on valve at the sewer connection. As they say, it treats the symptom not the disease, but keeps you from getting a surprise when you take the cap off.
