  • How do I Add a Panel to my 297QB?

Moderator note: Slight rewording and copied from https://gdrvowners.com/forum/solar/7...1431#post71431 -Howard

We have a 2022 297QB here in SW Idaho can someone point me to a link on how to add a second panel to my existing configuration?

    Thanks in advance.

Ideally, you'd want to purchase a second panel that is identical to your first. Then, I'd reconfigure the wiring to run in series. But you'll need to check the specifications of your panels and MPPT controller to make sure you don't exceed the recommended input current and/or voltage.

Thanks Jim, I'm disappointed that the docs aren't included so I'll have to dig into the fact by examining the panels and equip. model numbers.
I'm concerned about mounting on the roof and ensuring I hit solid wood. Any tips there?

The roof of your rig is 3/8" plywood. You should be able to mount it anywhere you'd like. I mounted mine where it was convenient and have had no issues because I didn't hit a rafter. Mine have been mounted for five years and 30,000 miles with no problems at all.

There are numerous threads in the solar section on adding additional panels. I have a thread there too https://gdrvowners.com/forum/solar/5...-don-t-mess-up Its morr of what not to do as I learned a lot of lessons. But I do document some wiring.

One lesson I learned is not paying attention to the PV input specifications on my solar MPPT controllers - I had to buy a second correct one and run 2 separately tied in parallel to the battery. Now if you looking for resources AM Solar has a bunch on thier web site https://amsolar.com/rv-solar/support Many of the other solar sites have the same too.

          Hope this helps

Thanks Keith. I found my documentation yesterday and was basically looking for someone that has done a Transcend like mine so I can see where they drilled for mounting, how they connected (serial or parallel), connectors used, panel type, etc. I'm going through the Solar threads but have found lots of other info but not what I'm looking for. I'll check out your link.
