If you haven't been to Indiana Dunes National Park I would recommend going there and just taking the interstates, I-55 up to I-80 and then east to I-94 and then make a stop at Indiana Dunes. There is a state park there along with the National Park and there are a good amount of campgrounds/campsites but they do get reserved way ahead of time so get something soon if you want to do that. If you go this way, I would try to get past Chicago/NW Indiana during non- rush hours; the stretch on I-80 from Joliet IL to the I-94 interchange in Indiana is gnarly from 7am to 9am and again from 3pm to 7pm. Our home base is just northwest of Chicago and we are coming to the Rally from home but probably plan to stay a night before the rally at Indiana Dunes because it's a beautiful area.

If you skip that area and the interstates and instead take route 24 east across Illinois and into Indiana it should be a nice and easy drive. I haven't stayed at Tippecanoe but I've been to a few Indiana state parks on that western border and there are some river valleys that make for surprisingly cool parks with decent midwestern hiking trails.
You must have been lightning fast booking. way to go. When did you log in and did you pick any of the side trips - maybe that slowed me up enough.

Appreciate the thoughts on the trip around Chicago but no way I am going I55 to I 80/I90 from Peoria through Chicago to get to Goshen. Map quest wants me to go that way and so does Google maps, But at least Google maps gives the US 24 as an option if you work it right. Been that way (I80/I90) years ago around Chicago and it was NUTS Only could be worse today. US 24 east than jog up hast to be better and more scenic I can only hope?.

    Thanks Keith

Just a reminder for those who didn’t get a National Rally reservation but still want one. Get on the notification list. A lot of plans will change over the summer and sites will become available. See the FAQs for how this works.

I guess that means I haft to be good Looking forward to meeting everyone and putting faces to names. Hopefully you all wont laugh to hard at my parking ability I just envision something like out of Chevy Chase and his NL Vacation movie.

Looks like there are trees in B - do they provide some shade or are the spots away from them? And what is the fence folks talk about - do not see that on Google - does it help withe the train?

              Thanks

                Yoda

”B” does have some shade trees (about the only ones on the fairgrounds) which shade some sites. Nothing helps with the train noise! It is something to experience . . . 24 hrs per day. There is a fence between A & B . . . You just have to walk through the gate at either end. Not far.

The fence is to keep the people in area "B". They are only allowed out certain times of the day. The folks on the outside of the fence can pass things thru but are not allowed to speak to those inside the fence.

No problem with train noise. Used to live in a double wide in No Name - just outside of Glenwood Springs CO in Glenwood Canyon. Trains constantly, about 100' away going through the canyon. The fence actually sounds nice.
Brian when are visiting hours Good to know they keep the RIF-raf out of B.
