Anyone willing to share photos of the camping facility's and recommendations for what area to try and get reservations for? Trying to understand the layout where everything is. I would rather not need to get a cart to get around. The site map on the web page https://www.gdrvnationalrally.com/ is not the easiest to understand.

    Thanks

There are very busy train tracks that run right next to the fair grounds. Areas B, C, D, F & H are very close to the tracks. My favorite are is "A", but it's very tough to get since it's highly desirable. They have drivers called "Gubers (or goobers)" that make the rounds to help people who don't want to walk. Ginnie and I bring our bicycles to the rally which makes getting around very easy. And there is a bike only route just across from the fairgrounds if you want to see the country-side a little.

The seminars (Owner-to-Owner or OTO, Vendors, and OEM) are held in either the ECCC building, H&FA or AG.

J's not bad--tucked back between buildings. Craft Row is not bad, either, but tight to get in (thus people with huge Solitudes and Momentums usually end up there...sigh).

All the site hosts were great, but the hosts in G and L stick out in my memory. L has a severe slope to it, though, so need lots of cribbing!

The meals are in Building A (with the big star on it).

At the intersection of Pecan St and Pyser Ave there's a nice bathroom with showers. Bldg F also has facilities (forget if there's actual showers there, though).

We were in B last time and found it to be tight with our 337. The sites are 90 degree to the path and they arent very wide. Getting in was a challenge but without someone to our right it gave me some room to maneuver. Leaving was a different story though and we only cleared the unit across from us by a foot when pulling out. Plenty of help with spotters though.

              Appreciate the information.
That is one of my concerns. While my trailer is roughly 7' shorter I have the CC F350 which takes 40 acres to turn around and a wide berth to get in. I am also not the best at backing in 90 degree sites. I don't use the turning point hitch though. How wide are the parking spaces and road in front? When you say cleared was that due to a TV being parked at the trailer, or the trailer itself? If there are any pictures that would help me understand what I am looking forward too.

One other question - is the registration form and side trip booking times available before the gates open so you can have it prefilled in so all you need do is submit? Is there a way to rank your area choices and then see what you get or does it even tell you ahead an area is filled up and if not you need to resubmit. Trying to understand the process.

One more. Is it important to book the side trips when you book your site like the plat tour, or Amish brown bag lunch, etc, or can it be done at the rally say a day or two ahead of time. Or once you have a spot online later before you go?

              Thanks everyone

When an unit arrives the parking team (most of the moderators are on it!) will escort you to your assigned campsite and there will be designated individuals in each area to assist the owner to get into their spot. The most challenging area (ironically) is handicapped row (E). Deanna ( ncitro's wife) was lead in that area and, with assistance from others, got everyone in their spot without any issues. (There are some stories to tell...but at the end of the day nothing was bent and everyone got parked.)

The point is--we'll get you parked. The one rule that is not subject to debate is we are not allowed, under any circumstances, to drive or park an owner's rig. Big, huge no-no.

                  Keith,

If you for sure want to do a specific excursion, brown bag tour for instance, then you will need to book that when you are booking your site. The only way that excursion will be available during the Rally is if someone does not want their tickets, their info will be posted on a cork board in building A so you could reach out to them and purchase their tickets.

Plant tour tickets will be available at the Rally until they are gone, this can not be signed up for before the Rally.

Something to consider is that this is a “Fairgrounds” being used as a huge “Campground”. As such, campsites in some areas are not very well defined, some are not very level and hook-ups are often not as convenient as you might expect. It takes a little cooperation to get everyone into place and connected . . . but there are lots of people working together to get this accomplished. Bringing extra blocking, plus electrical and sewer extensions is a good plan.

A lot to learn and plan for. Thanks everyone.

BTW a brainstorm - too bad GD can't bring over a tug to move folks into and out of tight places (with the signing of wavers, etc). I assume they use tugs at the plant to move trailers around. Yep probably a bad suggestion - I will go hide now.

I'm surprised some enterprising local has not opted to bring in a tractor with either a bucket or 3pt adapter for trailers.

Bucket mount one would be nice as that is the most maneuverable with the front steering axle, but compactness of a tractor does have it's advantages in general.

Joseph I have one I already use on my tractor - makes moving the 5th wheel a breeze. Had a local welder fabricate one up to work with my 3 point quick attach plate.

Grand Design moves rigs around their yards with pin lift machines like this, all the time . . . but, I doubt that they would bring them to the Fairgrounds.
