I also have used cruise control when towing except on challenging terrain. It seems to work fine. I do lock out 10th gear on my 10-speed transmission, limiting top gear to 9th.

The caution about aftermarket controllers implies the Ford controller does indeed apply trailer brakes, but it would be interesting to verify. Not quite sure how that could be done?Forum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself. I'm almost positive mine does. With the disc brakes it's pretty obvious when they come on. Next time I'm towing I'll give it a try. Should be easy to set the cruise at 65 and then drop the speed setting down to 40 and see what it does.Forum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself. Interesting side bar and it goes hand in hand with the exhaust brake. I too use cruse while towing. I guess the adaptive cruse is a love or hate relationship. My FIL has it on this Dodge van and I hated the beeping and slowing him down every time someone passed him and cut in front,, but then again he was using it in heavy traffic. I like to set a speed and maintaining it and passing if needed. Usually on interstates or good other two and 4 lanes. If it is heavy traffic I don't use it. On the Alaska trip I had the exhaust break on (manual) and cruse and did not like the behavior of the exhaust brake cumming on on every down hill situation rather than the truck coasting or trans down shift. I did not try auto setting from what I remember, but will give it a try this week.
Now another curve ball - Eco mode (again Ford 6.7 specific). Anyone use it while towing, or even normal solo driving for that matter. I have played with it and see no improvement in mileage from what I can tell.. Not much out there on what it really does either..

Back to packing. I wish I had not taken everything out - getting it back in is a real pain
