This may get a little windy, but after several days of reading everything here and over at the other place, IRV2 and others I have myself discombobulated.
It appear that both Firestone and Airlift are loved by those that have them, Very few hardware issues - both have had brackets come loose for various reasons. Both have several wireless compressor set ups. Both can us an app and Airlift has a fob included
Why am I considering airbags. - bounce control on rough roads and to slightly take out the sag to have better headlight alignment (prevent getting flashed at. Also an on board air compressor would come in handy. I would like one big enough to also power my air horns so an air tank is needed.
First the airbags
Firestone Choices 5000lb and 7500 lb
https://www.firestoneairide.com/kit-search/
Airlift same choices 5000 or 7500
https://www.airliftcompany.com/vehic...ig_install=diy
What do I really need? The 7500 models for both have heavier mounting brackets
Second question do I need both bags tied together or both separate. In other words am I looking for a single path controller or duel path. Whats the benefit of the dual path and would I use it?
Last air compressor - both offer kits of varying pressures and volume and some with 2 gallon tank. The Dual path controller allow for and aux port.
Background - on my 04 Ford I had a Viair 550c compressor 150 psi at 2.9 CFM This powered my full size semi air horns and aux port. The 550C was not IP rated I also had a 2.5 gallon air tank that might still be good, but inside rust is unknown. So I think it is time for something new.
Air compressor choices
Firestone
https://assets.firestoneip.com/autom...r-command-kit/ 130 psi max, 15% Duty Cycle, 0.57 CFM no tank Wireless Dual path controller
https://www.firestoneairide.com/auto...r-command-kit/ 150 psi max, 30% Duty Cycle, 0.40 CFM no tank Wireless Dual path controller
https://assets.firestoneairide.com/a...r-command-kit/ 150 psi max, 100% Duty Cycle, 0.94 CFM Includes 2Gal tank and wireless dual path controller
Airlift
https://www.airliftcompany.com/shop/25980ez/ no tank single path wireless controller no compressor specks given
https://www.airliftcompany.com/shop/25981ez/ includes 2 gal tank Heavy-duty 444c air compressor and 110-145 pressure switch Viair does not have a single 444c compressor but it appear the it would have 1.8 cfm and max pressure of 145 with 100% duty cycle Its single path Bluetooth.
https://www.airliftcompany.com/shop/74100ez/ dual path model of above with 2 gal tank
Viair compressor comparisons https://www.viaircorp.com/tech/compressor-comparisons
I like the airlift compact compressor and controller mount system. For Firestone I would need to buy the mounts separate Airlift is a bit more expensive, but ease of installation might be a benefit.
So what would folks recommend?
My other option is get a new Viair onboard kit and find mounting brackets and possibly buy the wireless controller separately if that is even possible.
Thoughts on this? If you have a specific one if you could possible include the part number so I can reference correctly.
PS If I go this route do I still need a sway bar?
Thanks
Keith
