With all this talk about frame flex and frame failure, I’ve been considering whether any of this can be owner impacted. It’s really easy to load a lot of gear into a 5th wheel so I periodically weigh my truck/trailer to ensure I’m within known limits. One area I don’t really have good information on relates to upper deck “capacity”. I suspect we’ve all read that we can expect pin weight to be somewhere around 20% of GVWR. And Grand Design provides pin weight stats for each model. But is there a reasonable limit we should all consider, as long as the truck towing it has the load capacity? How much is too much? Does Lippert or anyone publish such statistics about their frames?
