  • Wow!! Impressive tow capacity of a Solitude

I never imagine a 5th wheel trailer could be tow a Jeep. But here it is. (Located 2 miles from the Grand Design HQ in Indiana). The Solitude must have a super-strong frame!Click image for larger version

Is there a receiver hitch there? Looks like it connected to the bumper. Any chance the owner would let you take a picture of the actual hookup, especially underneath? Im curious.

Looks like the extra long campsite helps. LOL

Is there a tow rating on the Solitude hitch?

Wow is right! Is the Solitude towing, or being pushed?

Can't imagine why he would pull a Jeep.....other than thinking the ford is just not reliable enough........

This kindof defeats the purpose of having a towable RV, no? I specifically bought a TT instead of a motor coach so I can use my truck to get around wherever we're camping.

Maybe just making a delivery to someone who bought the Jeep. Or bought the rig and needs a ride back home.

There is little to no tongue weight with the four wheel tow.

A Jeep on the trails can be a load of fun. Has Jimmer been to the Michigan sand dunes when visiting up there? Silverlake Sand Dunes? Drove my truck on the dunes and it was great.

If your headed there, stay in the left lane for the first 10 miles in Michigan on Rt 23 from Ohio or you will need a new suspension for all three units. Same for the last 10 miles in Michigan headed into Ohio. 6+ inch vertical edged holes.

Still wondering to what happened with "Fix The Darn Roads".

Our 310GK frame hitch is rated for 300 lbs (accessories/tongue wt) and 3000 lbs. But I wouldn't tow anything until I had it reinforced with steel brackets, the welding on them is not what I consider a safe standard.

I spoke to the owner of that rig. He says he's been towing the Solitude and Jeep like that for 5 years. He says when he's going down the highway, he doesn't even know the Jeep is there. Last year, he traveled with 2 wave runners on a self-designed/built rack over the cab of the truck, plus the Solitude, plus the jeep.

I've been through Eastern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, but not the dunes. Hopefully some day.

A nice no nonsense campground is a mile away and air stations are at the dunes to air back up after playing on the sand. Also northern lower MI has endless two tracks that are perfect for the Jeep.

Great Pic!! Love it. Don't know when I'll get there. My daughter who works for GM moved out of Michigan and is on a year leave of absence traveling around the country in a tricked out RAV4 I helped her build. Three 100 watt solar panels on the top of the tent, a Bluetti lithium battery pack and inverter, with 12 volts going up through the roof of the RAV4 into the tent so she can have power for phone charging, a fan, and lighting. She was a bit nervous when I drilled an inch hole through the roof of her 2021 RAV4. But it worked out perfectly.

GM builds a Rav4? That's quite the setup

                            Pretty cool roof tent.

Double duty as a hunting stand.

I would have gone with the Trail Blazer with 315Hp NA V6 but it looks like a nice rig.
