  • The Swarm Asset Tracker

OK, had to post this find. https://swarm.space/product/swarm-asset-tracker/#

I've seen a lot of discussion on various interwb places about the what if. Rig gets stolen. For a hundred bucks up front and 5 bucks a month, I think this could be a game changer.

Now all we need is for someone to go for it and test it.

I think this could be more for one of you to comment on.

Yoda Sorry Keith, I don't think this fits the "SPEND KEITH'S MONEY" profile as it's technology and that is more tools and other things.

I'm not a fan of devices that require annual dues. An annual Swarm data plan is required to transmit and will be billed upon activation of your device(s).

If someone steals my RV, that's why I pay for insurance. Besides, I've made so many mods whoever takes it will end up giving me a call to figure out how the heck to use it.

howson Now if Victron could implement a GPS sensor into their stuff, you might be onboard.

Be even better if it would run on the same network as the original Kindles. Wispernet, but it has since been retired.

Whispernet was mostly, if not entirely, Sprint

My Peplink has integrated GPS and tracks where my rig is for free The Victron gear also does support a USB GPS as I recall. I never looked into it since the Peplink did it.

I also checked my Peplink web interface and it includes geo fencing as well. That has an annual cost of $49 I pay to maintain speed fusion bonding, and includes the internet reporting stuff.

SWMBO told me a story this evening about an owner who had a luggage tracker in the RV when it was stolen, made it very easy to be found. I believe that it would need a cell plan or something to be used.

You can always use a USB hub, just not in the port next to the HDMI port. That's power only in the latest firmware.

How about a one-time investment in a trailer hitch or king pin lock? Yes, they can be defeated, but if your rig is harder to steal that the one next to it . . .
