Just picked up our 2021 303rls and I see they have the power cord connection about center of the rig, I bought a 15' additional 50 amp cord not knowing it connected in the middle of the rig. With the 303 do you think this will be long enough or should I purchase a longer one? We rved 10 years ago and all of my other rigs the connection was in the rear.

I have a 30' extension and have lugged it around (it's heavy!) along with every adapter available. The adapters I've used--the extension, just once. I don't think you will need the extension. Our first unit had a fixed 30' cord and never needed an extension. Our second had the power chord at the rear again 30' and never needed the extension. Now this one is in the center (where most not all utility connections are) and waiting to use it to see how the 30' works. I have it plugged in at the house where my 50A service is behind the unit and I have to roll the extra up on top of the tires.Joseph

Dennis66 it will depend where you’re going to go. My connection is at the rear for some reason, but 90% of US campgrounds have the connection close to the site and the factory cord works fine. I carry a 50’ extension (@howson you don’t know what heavy is) because I need it to plug in at my office and at home when loading. The one place I’ve needed it camping is Algonquin provincial park in Ontario. I understand it’s common there (it’s the only one I’ve been to) to need a longer cord. I would think traveling in the US you’ll be fine.Last edited by ncitro; 03-24-2021, 08:42 AM.Forum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself. In a little over 5-1/2 years of full-timing, I've needed power (as well as water and sewer) extensions a total of three or four times. In each case the layout of the campground/site was very unusual. If you are going to frequent a few known places with your RV, you probably won't need it. I still carry all the extensions because we don't know what we'll find at our next 135 parks (244 stops, but several have been at the same place more than once).

We have a 2019 303 and I have a 15’ extension that we have carried since the start. In over 2 years, we’ve never had it out of the box. I’m ready, in case we need it at some point, but not yet.Tom and Janice (also known as Richter on the “Other” forum)

Dennis, So far we haven't had to break out the extension cord, but had to back up within 2 inches of the post to get there. But then again, ours is 41 feet....Jerry and Kelly Powell, with Halo, Nash, Reid, Cleo, Rosie, and the two newest additions Shaggy and Bella..

Unless you are planning to run two AC units, your additional extension cord can be a 30A . . . much easier to carry. Many of the parks where the post is a long way away will probably only have 30A anyway. If we are plugged into a 30A service, I have a short 5OA RV to 30A male adapter and run just the 30A cord to the post. No point in dragging out the heavy 50A cord at all.

Add another to the location to the list of "needed extension cord"! Buddy camped with Andi and Rudy at Hodges Vineyard in Camp Hill, Alabama, that had just added three new spots. We couldn't park on the new concrete so that put us in the grass. To stay semi-level we had to offset from the pedestals, which made them too far away to reach with our standard cords. Rudy used my longer 50A extension and I used his shorter 30A extension to reach our respective connections.
Bottom line--glad we both had extensions with us!

Yeah they’re a pain but handy to have I actually have four, the 50 amp shore cord, a 50’ 50 amp extension (it’s a bloody beast), a 30 amp shore cord I made up for the generator (50 amp smart plug on the end of a three conductor 10AWG cord) and a 30 amp extension (in case I want to move the generator away). Since my power inlet is on the rear I never know what to expect. I keep thinking about mounting a couple harbor freight reels to put the ones I rarely need in but haven’t done it.Forum moderators are not GD employees--we are volunteers and owners presumably just like yourself.
