  • New Tow Vehicle Tires

Will soon be looking for new truck tires. These will need to be 20" Load E and All Terrain. Currently the truck has Trailer Runner on it from the factory. These have about 23K miles now and I think they make it thru the summer but we have some longer trips in the latter half of the year and I think I will be replacing them by end of July. I am currently looking at Firestone Transforce AT which I had on the previous truck and they did fine and got better life from them. Open to other suggestions.

I removed transforce tires after a year and a half because of really bad snow performance. May not be a concern for you?
I replaced them with Toyo open country AT2 tires. Been very happy with them. AT2 are no longer available as they have been replaced with AT3 version. Give them a look.

My 18 has Goodyear SR/A from the factory, got about 60k on the first set. Appears they quit making the SR/A but now "with Kevlar". https://www.goodyear.com/en_US/tires...ack=tireFinder

I ran Transforce AT for many many miles. Also ran the HT (2wd truck). Great results with them over the 200K between the 2 trucks that ran them.

How 'bout a set of these? Might have to adjust the suspension on the trailer, though.

Then we would have another thread of rear tire wear and towing nose high . I used to own a 77 F250 high boy with the biggest tires I could find back then - not much to choose from. It ate U-joints like crazy. I had an 24" drop hitch to tow my 24'TT back then. Good thing gas was cheap

I'm in the same boat with this option here. I like Michelin and have had great success with them in the past. I too am on the LTX AT line and will switch to the LTX MS when I need to. Probably not the cheapest option out there, but whenever I look at cost, it's just flat out expensive for tires like this, so saving a few bucks in this area is not interesting to me.

I agree that the tire prices are getting a little far out there but this is one area that compromising is not happening with me. My tires probably have this summer left on them and maybe more, this truck does not get driven in the winter hopefully, but I just can not stand to have such little tread left especially when towing.

With that said the prices are anywhere from $1300 to $1700 for what has been recommended and what I am looking for, not cheap but it is what it is. ( daughter works for a tire dealer so I get the family discount ,lucky)

I ran about 70,000 miles on my factory Michelin LTX tires. First truck I had with them, I had been a fan of the Good Year Endurance before that tire changed the construction and had some issues. I went with the same tire again its been phenomenal.
