My truck was pretty new and it comes from the factory with the Rancho shocks. I had the Bilsteins on all my previous trucks so I swapped out the Ranchos for the Bilsteins and I think the ride is much less harsh over the bumps and such with that switch and my latest Hellwig rear sway bar.

Yoda If I were considering an addition like this (which I am not) I would definitely lean towards the factory parts. Also take a close look any differences to the front suspension that are paired with addition of a rear bar from the factory. Changing the roll resistance of one end of a vehicle without considering the other end can create vehicle balance issue when cornering at higher speeds. The OEM ride engineers would have gone through the original configuration very carefully to assure nothing unexpected.

Thanks, I also put on Helwig front and rear sway bars. There was no factory option for my 2005 Excursion. Know which Bilsteins (color) you got?

You will want to go with the 4600 series

Popga I ran the 5100's on my GM's (06 and 18). Some claim they are a bit stiffer than the 4600's but with the camper's extra weight on the truck, the extra stiffness I think helped.

Running them on an SUV I would probably want the softer 4600's for comfort.

I had the 5100's on my previous truck. The 5100's are now geared to lifted trucks where you can get a shock with increased travel. I have been told that construction wise the 5100 is more corrosion resistant but the internal valving is the same.

When I lookup the ones that fit my truck it says 1.5" lift on the front, but a well trusted vendor I buy truck parts from shows 0-1.5" lift for the same part number. Since the vendor is also a specialist in the same make of truck I am running and offers install service with exceptional warranty, I'll trust them with the specs and verify before ordering. The factory ones will probably get replaced late this year or by summer of next.

I run the 5100s on this truck with stock height. I recall doing the same research and concluded it was 0-1.5. I wanted the black/silver instead of yellow and blue this time. I did the 4600 on my last few. All have been excellent.

I'm using the 4600 monotubes that are blue/yellow. My AT4 is listed as having a 1.5" lift but I'm finding that doesn't translate to extended shocks or different rear sway bar links. Hellwig told me I needed the sway bar links for a lifted truck so I ordered them only to find out they were too long. I just cut them down and rewelded the hoops on the ends to make them standard height.

FYI, polyurethane bushings squeak. If you ordered rubber, just assemble and you are good to go. But if poly, make sure you use poly grease where the bushing goes around the bar.
