      • Cate&Rob, Yoda and any other forum members that may be interested,

Going through a pile of photos and following up on lingering issues. Came across the pic below that I meant to pass on a week or so ago.

So...if you decide to mess around with ForScan, the recommended OBDLinkMx interface that they recommend works great. Only tidbit I can pass along (that I've learned the hard way) is to ensure nothing else is connected to the phone via bluetooth before starting ForScan Lite.

Rob, when you moved your pin box, what torque value did you use?

I couldn’t find a LCI recommended torque for these bolts. I went with 160 lb-ft. The bolts could probably take more . . . but, my arms couldn’t LOL! I rechecked them after several days of towing and there was no loosening.

When I replaced the pin box, MorRyde did not supply new bolts. Instead you reuse the existing and follow this torque specification:

              https://www.morryde.com/wp-content/u...structions.pdf

Rob, I think you might be over tightened. I will have to check but I think my pin box used 1/2" bolts.

Kind of a wishy-washy torque recommendation on page 5.

My 303 pin box bolts are 5/8". So I'm thinking Rob is good.

Thanks for posting that chart Joseph

And I agree with Ted...what kind of installation info is this! lol. (Direct cut and paste from lci manual)

                  7. Torque the bolts to according to required values. Possible torque values may include: 110 ft-lbs minimum for 1/2” bolts; 160 ft-lbs minimum for 5/8” bolts; and 210 ft-lbs minimum for 3/4” bolts.

                  • Here is some additional info on torque based on bolt diameter, grade, lubrication etc. that may help.

                    • My pinbox bolts are 5/8" coarse thread. Probably a close metric equivalent since the only identifying marks are "YFS" . . . not Grade 5 or Grade 8. YFS is a Taiwan bolt manufacturer who claims to make their bolts to Metric Grade 12.9 . . . which is more-or-less Grade 8. I will admit that I "guessed" at 160 lb-ft torque . . . (it was a cold day and I wanted to get this done). Just blind luck that this lines up with the MORryde minimum spec . . . although this is a factory LCI Pinbox installation. Interesting that MORryde provides a torque spec . . . but doesn't supply the bolts per Joseph.

                      • According to the bolt chart, 160 lb ft will get you a bit over 14,400 lb clamp load. Should be good to go.

                        • Looking at my notes, actually a picture of them, the 5/8" bolts pin box are 160 lb ft, the 1/2" bolts jack bolts are 85 lb ft.

My 2021 box has 5/8 grade 5 bolts (3 hash marks)
Interestingly, the six bolts on the forward most holes had regular nuts. The four bolts on the rearward row had interference nuts.
I went to 170 ft/pds just so I could say I'm stronger than Rob...

                            • Well its Friday the 13th and noda - no truck yet . I also heard over at blue oval that the ford tracking system is no longer accurate for the dealers. It used to give out rail car numbers, but no more. I guess CSX got fed up with everyone calling. What a way to run a railroad. . Ill call the dealer tomorrow and see if they have a clue yet.. I wonder how critical that 1000 miles before towing is and what is close enough.

Meanwhile trying to get a dishwasher installed. My 6 year old Kitchen aid decided to almost catch fire. Mother board melt down. Cost more to fix than new. Took 4 weeks to get a Bosch - everything else good out of stock too. We have got to get the US and probably Canada more self sufficient. I would gladly pay more for quality, in stock, and USA made. At lease Lowes came through - fair price, free delivery (100 miles away) and on time. Nice delivery guys too. I even splurged $30 to have them haul the other dishwasher away.

                              • I will admit that I prefer to torque from the nut side, but not in this case. The inside the pin box is so tight that I could not get the torque wrench down in there or on a bolt.

I'll have to try and remember to look at the bolts again to see what size and grade they are.
