I just sold my Silverado this week and have a 2024 ordered thats almost identical, gas engine but with the 10spd Allison branded trans.
We dont have any trips planned right now so I have time to wait. Production of the 23's ends on the 27th of Feb and the 24's should be in full production by March 3rd in Flint. Dealers have pricing and can take preliminary orders right now but until they have allocations assigned to them from GM the order just sits.

I see GMC launched the configurator for the 2024 Sierra HD this week. I'd expect the Silverado configurator to follow.

I'm a little bummed about the lack of trim levels offered on the extended cab Sierra. I want to go heavier than my current crew cab 1500, but I don't want the added length of the new crews. 2024 2500/3500 crew cab is 20" longer than my crew cab 1500 due to the longer bed and front clip. Ford will let you order a Lariat extended cab. GMC stops you at SLE cloth seats, no center console... Hoping Chevy offers LTZ trim with some sort of option to "de-chrome" the front end since chrome is super outdated... Like pewter or maroon colors.

Flint has been running 3 shifts for some time now and producing over 1000 trucks per day and they are still way behind. I wouldnt look for too much diversity in the models.

In building our loaded 2024 Chevy 3500 LTZ the dealer shared an option like on the 2023s to have body colored bumpers on the LTZ. We have a body painted front bumper on our current LTZ as part of the rare LTZ Plus option available back then. It has "taken one for the team" with the highway driving most likely from sand/gravel/other being tossed up showing many pitted spots. As a result, we did not go with this route on our current order.

After being at the gdrv rally in quartzite, if popularity of trucks matters to you. The Ford F350 in white was by far the most popular. Dodge 3500 in second and relatively few Chevy trucks.

My neighbor and I went round and round on this same issue with our new trucks. He had a Silverado with painted bumpers in the past and spends allot of time on the highways with his Street Outlaws racing pursuits. His bumpers had to be repainted once or twice to stay nice. I spent less time on the highways with my last truck but had the chrome bumpers. Mine still looked good. On his new truck, he went with chrome for wearability and I went with painted because I just don't like chrome on the trucks anymore. I spend way less time on the highways than he does so I think my new GMC with the painted bumpers will be fine for a while. When they need touched up, I will just sandblast them in my shop and repaint in my booth. It's a choice that each has to make for their type of driving and color preferences.

Yea, great feedback ! I too like the painted look as the more current look.

How nice to have your shop or business to do this repaint ! Let me know when I can bring my truck into your shop to get mine done lol !

I'm still lookin' and test drivin'. I'm driving a 2023 GMC 3500 Denali dually again today just to punish myself some more (ha). I drove the 6.6 gas AT4X just to see how the engine is and it is fine as well. I love the dually platform stability going down the road (maybe it just in my head), but I also have to consider "point B" meaning sightseeing at the destination, trying to park a dually, smaller campgrounds we go to, etc.. I too wish there were more options for the extended cab type models in brands. Ram has a Megacab short bed dually, Ford and GM have theirs but in the lesser trim lines. My wife mandates power leather seat for passenger side which puts me in a certain box of trim levels. If not for that I would be looking at a Bighorn / XLT / SLE solution. I'm also considering 2022/23 used truck with low mileage as an option. money money money.

Bumpers? I have the Sport pkg on my Ram 2500 with painted bumpers and it looks nice but I still prefer chrome. Old school.

Bigdog3162 No dually here but I have a long bed and my next truck will be. There have been a few times we've been to urban areas (LA in particular) where we decided we'd just rent a car for that stay if we were going to be going into the city. We haven't actually had to do it yet, we've so far always had local friends we are visiting that let us borrow their car, or gotten by with an Uber, but it's our plan. We've never had an issue at the trailheads or sightseeing in the national parks, those lots almost always have RV parking and are plenty large. I think it's best not to compromise on towing for destination driving.

Remember the dually is really no wider than the SRW Why do I say that? Its the mirrors - if the Mirrors clear the dually will clear and the mirrors are the same for both. I found the Ford CC roughly the same size as the Dodge Megacab, In fact I thought Ford had more usable space with rear seat folded up and better seating, But that just my opinion. When I had my dually (needed for previous trailer size) I found towing slightly more stable than my SRW. I am getting a sway bar added to fix that.

Last parking was not really and issue in the camp grounds - it was the length of the 8' bed that got to be a problem at times, like Walmart until I learned to back in remote spots. Now that I have my high capacity SRW I see no need for the dually and you don't have the tire buying and rotation issue. Also better fuel mileage. Ford does build the CC short bed (6.75') in the high trim lines too. If you really want to make SWMBO happy get the active massage seats in the Ford - they also lay fully flat too for 2023 https://shop.ford.com/configure/supe...cmp=vhp-bb-fbc

                      Happy shopping

My 2018 has painted bumpers. I like the look but it's just cheaper to paint than have chrome. And chrome is more durable.

Also adaptable is " Did you know that brand x has a heated tailgate, so your hands do not get cold when pushing it home."

Just did a trip in our "new to us" 22 Chevy and we are very pleased with the comfort and especially the fuel mileage, averaged 21.4 for the whole trip of 711.5 miles. I did see as high as 24.3 on the trip out until we turned west and dropped to 21.2 when we reached our destination. The "old" truck would barely reach 18.5. I am looking forward to towing mileage to see what that comes in at, old was around 10 to 10.5 was the best we seen. The ten speed tranny seems very similar to an 12 or 18 speed semi truck tranny, lots of low gears but I do not miss shifting those.
